Local Couple Holds Wedding At Walmart

Kari Cheadle and John Gates tied the knot at the Walmart where they both work.

A local couple took the phrase "one stop shop" to a whole new level when they tied the knot at the Walmart store in West Sacramento on Wednesday.
Keri Cheadle and John Gates said their "I do's" at the Walmart Supercenter on Broderick Drive, the place they met and fell in love.
Kari worked in the garden center, and John started as a courtesy clerk. They became friends, started going out to lunches, and then…
"It turned into, 'Let's get married: You're the one,'" John said. "I figured since we met here, let's start it here, do it right with a big bang."
"First, I thought he was kidding," Kari laughed.
They don't call Walmart the big box store for nothing. One of the wedding attendees remarked that you can find just about anything there, including "rings, bride, groom, your cake."
With family members and coworkers -- some of whom were on the clock -- in attendance, the two formally married at the store Wednesday morning.
"I feel like the ultimate Walmart greeter," the priest joked.
The couple is heading off on their honeymoon, but they will be back at work next week.
This is the first wedding this Walmart store has had.
