Family Escapes Injury After Truck Hits House
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
A Citrus Heights family escaped injury after a large pickup truck crashed into their house.
"You can't do much," said mother Melissa Rutschmann. "Panicking isn't going to help."
Melissa isn't celebrating Mother's Day like most. A pickup truck crashed into their house on Antelope road just after 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
The damage appears severe, but it could have been worse -- Melissa's family was just about to walk outside when the crash occurred, which would have put them in the path of the truck.
After Melissa realized what happened, she called for help for the driver.
"By the time we got out here he was seizing pretty badly," she said. "He couldn't talk. He was unconscious."
The damage stretches from the sidewalk through the garage. Of all days, this is not the kind of surprise anyone wants to wake up to.
"Happy Mother's Day," Melissa laughed.
