Father Kills Two Children, Himself

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A man who was under a court restraining order to keep his distance shot and wounded his estranged wife, killed his two young children and then turned the gun on himself, police said Saturday.

Jorge Cruz Iraheta, 31, and his children were pronounced dead at a home in the Silver Lake area Friday night, police spokeswoman Julianne Sohn said.

Officers were sent to the home by a report of domestic violence at about 9 p.m. and then left to search for Iraheta at another address, Sohn said.

Less than an hour later, officers returned to the home after reports that shots and screams were heard.

The bodies of Iraheta; his 7-year-old daughter, Ashley, and his 9-year-old son, Andres, were found at the scene.

His wife, Marta, 35, was shot in the leg and was hospitalized in stable condition, Sohn said.
