Outdoor Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony Cancelled
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Forecasted bad weather has prompted Governor Schwarzenegger to cancel Thursday's
outdoor Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The traditional outdoor ceremony will now be held inside the Capitol Rotunda. Because of limited space, it will be standing room only.
Gov. Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver will help kick-off the holiday season with Mistress of Ceremonies Maria Menounos. The ceremony, themed A Season of Giving, will begin tomorrow at 5 p.m. and will include performances by Grammy Award-winning artists Brian McKnight, Thelma Houston and others.
The Capitol Christmas tree will be lit with 7,400 ultra-low wattage LED lights, and is decorated with nearly 1,940 ornaments created by Californians with developmental disabilities.
