Modesto Toddler Hurt, Police Searching For Suspect

MODESTO (CBS13) ― Modesto Police are searching for a man they believe may have hurt a 19-month-old boy who is now in critical condition.

Police are searching for 28-year-old Roberto Valencia. Valencia is the boyfriend of the injured toddler's mother and was home with the boy yesterday.

The suspect's own mother is the person who called 9-1-1 when she discovered the boy was hurt and not responsive at his Modesto home.

When emergency crews arrived, they called Modesto Police about the suspicious nature of the injuries. Valencia went to the hospital, but left when police arrived.

Police have not been able to find Valencia.

Modesto Police consider Valencia a suspect in the case. He has two warrants for his arrest that are unrelated to the case. The first is for domestic violence and the second is for resisting arrest and traffic violations.

Anyone with information on Valencia is asked to call 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers.
