Blanket Blamed For Deadly Thanksgiving Day Fire
OROVILLE, Calif. (AP) ―
Fire officials say bad wiring in an electric blanket caused a fire that killed a 68-year-old woman on Thanksgiving Day.
Fire investigators from Butte County say the oxygen tank Ida Adelia Post used to help her breathe may have helped the fire burn more aggressively in her Berry Creek home.
Cal Fire spokeswoman Mary Ann Aldrich says residents should carefully check electrical appliances they use to heat homes and stay warm. She says if there's any doubt about their safety, don't use them.
