A former plastic surgeon who had been accused of 20 counts of felony sexual assault against patients has finally been sentenced in the case.
A Sacramento County judge sentenced Scott Takasugi to 3 years and 8 months in jail as per a plea agreement.
Under the deal, Takasugi pleaded no contest to two counts of sexual contact with two patients and the rest of the charges were dismissed. Takasugi will also have to register as a sex offender. He was also forced to surrender his medical license.
"He knew what he was doing. He knew his position and the consequences he was facing. I don't feel bad for him falling. He's mad because he got caught," said one of Takasugi's ex-patients who spoke out in court.
Takasugi missed two previous sentencing dates and had been in a Ventura mental hospital after allegedly trying to commit suicide. He was arrested in Ventura last week and transferred back to Sacramento for today's sentencing.
The booking sheet at the Ventura County Jail revealed some details into the charges against Takasugi that had been kept private because of the plea deal. It lists the charges/offenses against Takasugi as Felony Rape of Unconscious Person, Felony Anal & Genital Penetration By Foreign Object, and Felony Sexual Exploitation By Physician.
Takasugi was a plastic surgeon for Kaiser Permanente when he was first arrested in 2006.
