Two Shot, One Killed While Eating At Taco Truck

EMPIRE, Calif. (CBS13) ― One man was killed and another was wounded in Stanislaus County overnight, and authorities are asking for tips to help solve the case.

The two victims had stopped to eat at a taco truck on the 4900 block of Yosemite Boulevard in Empire late Monday night when they were confronted by a group of people who asked them if they were in a gang, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.

At some point, the group attacked the two victims and opened fire, striking both of the men.

The older victim, a 22-year-old Hispanic male, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The younger, a 19-year-old Hispanic male, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives say several witnesses left the scene before authorities arrived. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about it is asked to call Detective Jon McQueary at (209) 525-7099 or Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
