SWAT Trains For Standoff In Natomas Neighborhood

NATOMAS (CBS13) ― Sacramento's SWAT team swarmed an innocent family's home in Natomas, but the family isn't angry. It was all part of a training exercise to simulate a SWAT standoff, using a real house for training.

"The more you train, the better you are when the real deal hits," said Captain Daniel Hahn.

Cops rolled up, SWAT swooped in, and a fake suspect took his place in the fake standoff.

Neighbors watched the exercise from only a few feet away, maybe one of the only times you'll see SWAT teams asking people to actually come closer to what they're doing. Officers used the opportunity to meet the neighbors, taking pictures with local kids and getting to know the neighborhood.

You can see video of the exercise and Mike Dello Stritto's full report from the scene in the video player to the right.
