Homeowner Shoots, Kills Suspected Burglar

VACAVILLE (CBS13) ― One suspected robber is dead and another on the run after they tried to rob a Vacaville home and encountered a homeowner with a gun, according to authorities.

The Vacaville Police Department says they received a phone call around 2:00 a.m. Saturday from the homeowner, who said he had just shot someone inside his house. Police arrived on scene and found the suspected burglar dead inside the home.

"He went to investigate voices and he had the handgun that he owns with him," said Sergeant Bob Denton of the Vacaville Police Department. "He used the handgun and shot him at least one time in the torso, killing him."

Police say another suspect fled after jumping through the home's front window, and has not been apprehended. The dead suspect's identity has not been released.
