State College Students March In Protest Of Cuts

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Thousands of college students across California are taking a stand for their education.

Students were preparing signs late last night for this morning's march from Raley Field to the state capitol.

The march is bringing together students from community colleges, Cal State schools and UC campuses to protest the governor's billion-dollar budget cuts to higher education. High tuition, larger class sizes, and fewer courses are just some of the immediate concerns. But students say the cuts will have an even bigger impact.

"If we don't put money into education, then once the economy starts to grow there will be no work forces to back that up," says one student.

The students will be joined by Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi.

Students in Southern California will also be taking part in their own rallies today.
