STOCKTON (CBS13) ―
The Stockton Street is called "miracle mile." And cops say vandals used signs and businesses as their canvas for destruction.
Caught on tape, several men in the middle of the night casing businesses with one thing in mind; vandalism!
Several businesses on Pacific Avenue were hit hard with buckets of paint thrown on signs and windows.
As you can see after two men case the area several others join in with spray paint.
This area on Pacific Avenue is known to Stockton residents as the 'miracle mile' where shoppers can enjoy an evening out at restaurants and stores.
"I don't know if you can see with the camera but there's like a P and Q," says Lakisha Fatusi, a karate instructor.
Most of the graffiti has been cleaned off but some merchants still see remnants.
Here at Moore's Karate, they're fed up with youngsters tagging the businesses. In some cases merchants spent three to $15,000 to get it cleaned up.
"It's not right it's out of property and we want to keep everything clean for the business, for the community," says Lakisha.
Stockton police are hoping this video will lead them to the vandals so they can build a case.
In the meantime, merchants are now banding together passing out flyers and exchanging information on the latest attack.
