Extreme Measures Discussed To Fix Stockton Budget
STOCKTON (AP) ―
Stockton officials are considering voluntary employee buyouts and mandatory furloughs to cope with the city's growing deficit.
Officials say a dramatic increase in the number of home foreclosures is taking a toll on the city's budget.
Deputy City Manager Laurie Montes says the cost-cutting measures which include shutting down city government for ten days are just being considered and have not been formally recommended to the City Council.
