Hot Weather Impacting The "Big Fix"

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Stage 3 of the Big Fix construction project is underway, shutting down the southbound lanes on Interstate 5. The closure is scheduled to last a week, but hot weather could cause some delays.

The southbound lanes of I-5 between J Street and Business 80 are closed, forcing motorists to detour through downtown Sacramento or on nearby highways.

Extremely hot weather could hinder construction efforts, not only for worker safety, but because concrete hardens too quickly when temperatures are higher than 90 degrees. Construction crews will have to do most of their work at night.
