Solano County Presses Banks To Stop Foreclosures
SOLANO COUNTY (CBS13) ―
Solano County supervisors unanimously declared the county to be in a foreclosure crisis and passed a resolution calling for a stop to all foreclosures.
The county does not have the authority to enforce the resolution, but county leaders are hoping that banks will work with homeowners to keep residents from losing their homes.
"Squeaky wheels get the grease," said supervisor Barbara Kondylis. "We're just trying to be a squeaky wheel."
Solano County is one of three Northern California counties headlining the nation's foreclosure crisis. At least one in 12 homes in the county was foreclosed in the last year, according to a research group.
Sacramento County has seen one in 13 homes foreclosed, and San Joaquin County has seen one in 10 seized in the same time period. One realtor told CBS13 that 90 percent of her listings come from foreclosed homes.
