With a laptop, webcam and his mother, a student battling cancer was able to virtually attend his graduation via Skype.

A local teen is being treated for leukemia in San Francisco, but he still managed to attend today's graduation at Rosemont High School with a little help from technology.
Steven Lee, 18, was just a couple of months away from graduating when he got the bad news: He has leukemia, and he needed to start treatment right away.
"It just happened one day with a simple test," said Christina Nunez, Steven's mother.
Steven is in the middle of his third phase of chemotherapy and was unable to walk on stage for his graduation. His family contacted CBS13 and asked if we could help him walk through Skype, an internet service that allows users to communicate through webcams in real time.
With a laptop in hand, Steven watched the entire graduation from his hospital bed, listening to every inspiring speech and song, but what really made it a true graduation experience is when he was able to virtually walk across the stage while I accompanied his mother to accept the diploma.
"It was quite an experience, especially being in the hospital and dealing with IT guys and dealing with my health as well," Steven said. "Pretty awesome."
He even got to watch his classmates throw their caps into the air, and not wanting to be left out, he joined in from his hospital room.
Christina accepted the diploma on Steven's behalf, and drove back to San Francisco Monday night so he could have it himself.
Steven's battle against leukemia is just beginning. He'll have six more months of chemotherapy, and hopefully get a bone marrow transplant.
