A shooting at a Sikh temple in Sacramento has left one person dead and another injured, according to authorities.
Two gunmen reportedly showed up at a gathering near the Sacramento Sikh Society on Bradshaw Road and opened fire around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Authorities believe that the suspects were targeting specific victims.
Two people were struck by the gunfire. One died and another is in critical condition in a local hospital.
The crowd, who were gathered to play and watch amateur sports competitions, reportedly attacked and subdued one of the alleged gunmen with sports equipment.
"A person ran from behind and hit the guy with a field hockey stick," said Balraj Dhaliwal, who was competing when the shooting started.
The other gunman escaped and is still at large. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department has named Amandeep Singh Dhami as a person of interest in the case.
The identities of the victims and injured suspect have not been released.
