Search Suspended For Woman Missing In Sierra

MARKLEEVILLE, Calif. (AP) ― A search for a missing Reno-area woman has been suspended near Markleeville after authorities found no trace of her.

Alpine County sheriff's deputies say searchers spent five days looking for 51-year-old Leslie Lee Gray of Sun Valley, using helicopters, kayaks, dogs and quadrunners.

Gray's vehicle was first spotted at a popular Markleeville-area parking spot for hikers in late March.

When it was still there on April 5, deputies found food in coolers and the keys still in the vehicle.

Rescue teams searched area hiking trails and along the East Fork Carson River.

Deputies say Gray's disappearance is still being investigated with the help of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office in Reno.

Friends say they don't know why Gray was in the Sierra Nevada. She reportedly was en route to Texas.
