Off-Duty Cop Arrests High-Risk Sex Offender At Gym

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) ― A high-risk sex offender is back behind bars today after being nabbed by an observant off-duty Rancho Cordova police officer at a Sacramento gym.

The officer was working-out at a health club on Arden Way when he noticed a man wearing a GPS ankle monitor often worn by high-risk sex offenders.  When the officer noticed the man having a conversation and lifting weights with a boy who appeared to be a juvenile, the officer started investigating.

He found out the man was 52-year-old Jeffrey Clarke Cameron who was, as he suspected, a registered high-risk sex offender.  Cameron was on parole and ordered not to have contact with juveniles.

The officer called for back-up and Cameron was arrested at the gym.

Police also later found child porn at Cameron's home.  Cameron was booked into Sacramento County Jail on charges of child porn possession and parole violation.

Cameron has lived in the Rancho Cordova area since his release from prison 10-months ago.
