Cleanup Of 80,000 Gallon Sewage Spill Continues
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
A broken sewer line that spilled 80,000 gallons of raw sewage into Arcade Creek is capped, now the cleanup of mess begins.
The break was discovered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and was spilling raw sewage into the creek at a rate of 150 gallons per minute, according to officials.
Crews were able to fix the broken pipe last night. They also dammed the creek two miles down from the break and began pumping the contaminated water from the creek into a nearby sewer.
Today, they are continuing to clean up the spill.
The spill is located within 10 yards of the running trail.
