A federal judge has sentenced a South San Francisco man to 10 years in prison for downloading more than 2,000 images of child pornography.

Forty-one-year-old Gilbert Haro was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston at a hearing in San Francisco on Friday.

Haro pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography in July, admitting that he downloaded images to his computer last year.

Prosecutors say customs officials stopped Haro at San Francisco International Airport and found child pornography on his laptop computer in September 2007.

Haro's attorney had asked for a sentence of 84 to 90 months, noting that his client had lost his job and went through a divorce with the mother of his two children.
