Salmon Fishing Banned Off Coast Of California
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
The State Department of Fish and Game is siding with federal officials on an all-out salmon ban off the coast of California.
You may remember on Thursday, the Pacific Fishery Management Council halted the salmon fishing season in federal waters.
Here in California, an estimated $200 million, along with some 2,000 jobs are expected to be lost because of this.
There was a 4-0 vote to ban all salmon fishing from the coastline to three miles out. Right now, the decision does not include fishing in local rivers or the Delta. A decision on fishing in those areas will be made on May 9th.
