Sacramento County Looking At Tax To Combat Gangs
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Sacramento County is looking into ways to boost the fight against gang violence and that could include a new tax.
This morning, Sacramento County supervisor Roger Dickinson is expected to propose a quarter-cent sales tax increase to fight gang violence. He will be joined by the widow of anti-gang Sheriff's Deputy Vu Nguyen who was recently killed in the line of duty.
The measure would go on the November ballot and would require support from two-thirds of the voters.
If it passes, the county's sales tax would increase to 8% generating an estimated $50 million annually.
