SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
A former Sacramento car dealer is accused of pocketing more than $4 million by selling cars he did not own.
Shayan Rahbarian, 38, was the owner of the Suzuki of Sacramento car dealership on Fulton Avenue. State investigators say he defrauded Brasher's Auto Auction in millions from new and used auto sales.
Brasher's, a consignment business that sells cars wholesale to dealers, never got a dime from the money Rahbarian made from selling cars from their inventory, an act of fraud, according to authorities.
Investigators served a search warrant on Rahbarian's home, finding "documentary evidence" and more than $90,000 in cash, according to Mike Marando from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Customers have also accused Rahbarian of failing to pay off liens of trade-ins, improper titling, and other issues, Marando added.
Rahbarian is being held in prison on $6 million bail while the investigation continues.
