Police Arrest 12 In Prostitution Sting
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) ―
Roseville police set up a sting to catch men soliciting sex for money online and nabbed 12 suspects who responded to a fake online ad.
An undercover female officer met respondents to the ad at a Roseville hotel, where they were taken into custody, according to authorities. Police say they were surprised that so many "johns" responded to the ad.
"Actually, we were a little bit disappointed," said Lt. Stefan Moore of the Roseville Police Department. "We don't do this out of necessity. We don't do it because we have a large prostitution problem."
Roseville Police say this is a proactive effort to make sure criminals know they can't get away with breaking the law in their area. All 12 men were charged with soliciting prostitution.
