Hit & Run Suspect Runs Off With Baby In Elk Grove

ELK GROVE (CBS13) ― A man suspected in a hit and run accident was arrested after he tried to outrun police. He jumped fences, all the time carrying his six-month-old baby with him, according to Elk Grove police.

Investigators say they got a report of a hit and run accident on Monday afternoon at Elk Grove Florin and Williamson Dr. Police eventually caught up with the suspect, Ricco Thomas, who had ditched his car a few blocks away from the crash.

Police chased the suspect, who ran through yards and jumped over fences, and eventually caught him. That's when they realized he was carrying his baby.

Thomas had an outstanding felony warrant.

The baby is back with his mother.
