Fire Ravages Ceres Recycling Plant For 2nd Time

CERES (CBS13) ― Dozens of firefighters were called out to a recycling plant in Ceres this morning to battle a fire that broke out at around 10:30.

The fire broke out at 'Bonzi Recycling' on Morgan road, and quickly grew to approximately 60 acres. All 12 employees were evacuated; none were injured.  Businesses to east of the plant were also evacuated as a precaution after a grass fire was sparked by the blaze.

By 12:30 p.m. the fire was mostly put out. Hot spots and smoldering materials remain.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is still under investigation. Bonzi Recycling has declined to comment.

This isn't the first time a fire has broken out at Bonzi Recycliing.  On September 14, 2006, the recycling plant went up in flames after a fire that started in a dumpster. It quickly spread, igniting paper, wood, and plastic products. The fire grew to four alarms over 55 firefighters on the scene and one engine from every department in the County on-hand.
