Teen Shot While Trying To Steal Pumpkins

TRACY (CBS13) ― A teenager was shot in the back while allegedly trying to steal pumpkins from a pumpkin batch early Sunday morning, according to authorities.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department says the 19-year-old male was intending to steal pumpkins with two other people at a pumpkin field on South Tracy Boulevard. After hearing gunshots, the three ran to their car and tried to flee the area.

As they drove off, someone fired four shots at the vehicle. The 19-year-old was struck in the back, but was able to drive himself home and get to a hospital.

The wound was not life-threatening. No suspects in the shooting have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
