Big Rig Carrying Produce Catches Fire In Sierra

GOLD RUN (CBS13) ― A big rig carrying produce caught fire early Thursday morning on eastbound Interstate 80 in the Sierra creating a traffic mess.

CHP say the brakes on the tractor trailer caught on fire and it quickly spread to the contents of the truck.

One of the two lanes is closed because there is a lot of produce on the freeway.  CHP says it bringing in equipment to clear away the charred produce.  The truck can't just be towed away because the fire melted the tires and damaged the undercarriage.  The truck will have to loaded onto a flatbed truck and then taken away.
