Dangerous Pit Bull Could Be Roaming Sacramento Co.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. (CBS13) ― A dangerous dog could be roaming Sacramento County streets. Already, two pit bulls were shot and killed after a series of attacks.

Sheriff's deputies get their shot after nearly 30 minutes of chasing two vicious pit bulls through the Arden Arcade neighborhood and schoolyard.

It was all over only after the dogs bit two people.

"The two dogs crossed the street just to get to me," said Michael Peart. "The smaller dog bit me on the ankle."

A neighborhood and school were in fear, and have lingering questions about where the pit bulls came from. It is a situation that is far from over.

"The dogs must have come up the creek bed," said Julie Todd.

Todd's backyard backs up to the creek bed. It's the place where police shot and killed the first dog.

"There were two dogs on our deck, then we saw the sheriffs walking through the neighbor's yard, and I heard them shoot the dog," said Todd.

Todd says she has never seen the dogs before.

"They didn't have any visible id or microchips," said Todd.

Animal control officers do not know who owns the dogs, and say they will probably never find out. In the majority of stray dog cases, the owner is never found.

"Are there three or two?" asked Peart.

Some like Michael Peart worry there could be more of these dogs out there -- ready to attack. The original 911 caller said there were three pit bulls.

"Do you think there could be a third one still out there?" asked CBS13 Checkey Beckford.

"There could be," said Ruben Hernandez, Sacramento County animal control officer. "I hope they got the right ones."

If you see a stray pit bull, you are asked to contact animal control immediately.
