A California inspection report shows that the pistachio processor that sparked a nationwide recall for shipping salmonella-tainted nuts had no recent violations that would pose a health threat.
According to the report, a state public health inspector visited the plant run by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc. last year. The inspector found some minor violations, such as insulation hanging over some equipment and packaging equipment that was temporarily repaired using tape.
Neither of those violations is thought to pose a threat to human health, and the company corrected them a few days later.
The plant has recalled more than 2 million pounds of its roasted nuts due to concerns over potential contamination.
