SPCA Pet Personality Tests

The SPCA is taking a page from professional matchmakers in order to help people find the right pet. They're giving cats and dogs personality tests as well as potential owners.

The focus on matchmaking is designed to make sure the pets and owners are truly compatible and stay together. The SPCA says all too often, pets are returned.

The Placer County SPCA says it's crucial for both the animal and the owner. The SPCA has come up with specific 'Canine-alities', 'Puppy-alities' and 'Feline-alities'. The idea is to match the pets with potential adopters whose personality and lifestyle fit them best.

Some of the 'Feline-alities' identified by the ASPCA include the "Party Animal", "Love Bug", and the "Private Investigator". 'Puppy-alities' include the "Class Clown", "Kindergartner" and the "Super Hero". And if you're looking for a dog, you may want a "Goofball", "Coach Potato" or a "Go-Getter".

So far about 45 SPCA's in the country focus on the matchmaking technique.
