Lawmakers To Consider Flight Plan For Passengers
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Legislators California will consider an "Airline Passenger Bill of Rights" today.
The bill is modeled on a New York law adopted last year after passengers were stranded on planes for hours.
According to the the Department of Transportation, more than a quarter of flights were delayed last year.
Since Kate Hanni of Napa was stuck on a plane for 9 hours in 2006, she 's been working Congress to get a federal "Passengers' Bill of Rights" law.
"We're not talking about our constitutional right to fluffy pillows. We're talking about our constitutional right to breathable air and a tiny bit of food," said Hanni.
There have been a number of petitions to promote a passenger's bill of rights and one of them has received as much as 22,000 signatures.
