Overnight Grass Fires Threaten Orangevale Homes

ORANGEVALE (CBS13) ― Two wind-fueled grass fires came dangerously close to some Orangevale homes forcing people out of bed overnight.

It happened near the cross of Snowberry Way and Glencrest Lane right on the riverbank.

The Folsom Fire Department said two separate grass fires burned several acres threatening at least two homes.
 
A dozen fire units battled the blaze with the wind working against them.
 
But they got it under control fairly quickly which was a big relief to Elliott Connor.
 
"I looked out the backyard and I'm like 'oh no, I gotta freakin' wake up and drive down the street, drop the animals off'," said Connor, "It's just not the ideal thing I want to be doing at 1:00am in the morning."

No one was hurt.  Another neighbor says fire has broken out in the same place two or three times in the last few years.
