DA Won't Seek Death Penalty Against Chu Vue
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
The Sacramento County District Attorney's office says it will not seek
the death penalty for a former Sacramento County Sheriff's deputy
accused of killing a
state correctional officer.
The DA made the announcement today in a preliminary hearing for Chu Vue.
Vue, 44, is suspected of killing Steven Lo, 39, in the driveway of his South Sacramento home on October 16, 2008. In September, a judge determined there is enough evidence for Vue and a friend, Lang Vue, to stand trial for Lo's death.
The District Attorney's office said they will not seek the death penalty against Lang Vue either.
Lo worked at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, and had been a correctional officer with the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for nearly three years.
Chu Vue's brothers, Chong Vue and Gary Vue, were also arrested in March along with Chu and Lang for the alleged homicide.
