New Body Piercing Trend Exploding In Popularity
CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. (CBS13) ―
A new twist in body piercing is exploding. It's called single point piercing, and it's the latest in the heavy metal movement.
It's kind of like an implant. It's a piercing with no apparent backing. And it is popping up on hips and faces, collar bones and cleavage and even feet.
The hardware?
A bar with several small holes that slides under the skin. Those holes keep the piercing in place.
"So your tissue grows in-between there and holds it in there. It's becomes part of our body," said Kevin McFarland of California Tattoo.
The jewelry screws into a tiny anchor left at skin level.
This type of piercing is meant to be permanent. But it can be surgically removed.
At California Tattoo in Citrus Heights, a typical piercing costs $40. The single point entry cost between $50 and $60.
