Woman's Body Found Outside Natomas Apartment
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Sacramento homicide detectives spent hours outside a Natomas apartment complex after an apartment maintenance worker found a woman shot to death just feet from her front door.
Authorities said the gruesome discovery was made before 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, when the body of the woman, age 27, was found near the gate at a quiet aparment complex located on the 4800 block of Kokomo Drive.
"The maintenance worker believed she had fainted and called 911," said Sgt. Matt Young.
The news sent shockwaves through the usually-quiet neighborhood.
"It's awfully scary because we travel in and out of that gate all the time, especially early in the morning," said neighbor Sherri Ruiz.
Several neighbors told CBS13 that they walked near the gate before the woman's body was found and didn't see or hear a thing.
This is an ongoing investigation. A motive for the shooting has yet to be determined. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact CRIME ALERT at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
