Suspects Use Stolen Cars To Break Into Businesses
MODESTO (CBS13) ―
Businesses worked to clean up the damage after an overnight crime spree saw criminals stealing cars and smashing them into Modesto storefronts.
"If I come in to work I want to come in to work, not clean up," said an employee at Eclipse Tinting, one of three businesses hit during the night.
Burglars used stolen cars and drove them through the front windows. At Eclipse Tinting, the vehicle ended up blocking the door to the rest of the building, which prevented the suspects from making off with anything of value.
The Ducati Motorcycle Shop had smashed glass, damaged motorcycles and stolen merchandise amounting to more than $20,000 in losses.
Police are reminding local businesses to make sure that surveillance systems are working and activated at night.
