Mario Garcia Sentenced To 59 Years To Life
AUBURN, Calif. (CBS13) ―
The man convicted of murdering Christie Wilson is going to prison for at least 59 years.
Mario Garcia was sentenced in an Auburn courtroom this afternoon after making an emotional statement in front of Wilson's family and friends and his own family saying he did not kill Christie Wilson and that he did not get a fair trial.
The sentence of 58 year to life also came after Christie Wilson's family also addressed the court.
Christie Wilson was last seen on surveillance video leaving Thunder Valley Casino. Blood and DNA matching Wilson's was found on Garcia's car. Despite exhaustive searches, Wilson's body is still missing.
The Department of Corrections says that Garcia will likely be taken to the Dual Vocational Institute in Tracy where he'll stay for anywhere from 45-100 days. There, he'll be photographed, fingerprinted, and issed prison clothing. He'll go through a classification process that will determine which of the state prisons he'll go. But, because of his murder conviction he'll be classified as a maximum security inmate.
Garcia will have to serve all 59 years of his sentence before he is parolled, says Wilson's father, Pat Boyd.
