Lodi Grandma, Mom And Kids Accused Of Shoplifting
LODI (CBS13) ―
It's not often police officers are surprised by an alleged crime, but Lodi police were by a crime they call a family affair spanning three generations.
Surveillance tape shows a grandmother, mother, and five kids picking up high-priced electronics at a target in Lodi.
The suspects allegedly used a box cutter and scissors to get to the goods including MP3 players, DVDs and candy worth more than $900.
Police say the youngest child, a five year-old, was found with stolen gum in her purse.
"It's not often we see a family shoplifting together, let alone three generations," said Lodi Police Officer Misty Smith.
A teenager with the family talked only with us last night. "Anna said go get MP3's, go get whatever you want and I'll put it in my pants," the teen told CBS13's Mike Dello Stritto from behind her front door.
Anna Fernandez and her mother are facing several felony charges.
The kids were released to their grandparents.
