After a battle over blueprints for a new mall, the Elk Grove City Council gave the plan the thumbs up last night.

The open air mall will be 1.1 million square feet with 120 retailers, eight restaurants, and a 16 screen cinema. The mall would all be anchored by Macy's, JC Penny's, Target and a Barnes and Noble.
While a lot of people are excited, some are against the new project, mainly because of the additional traffic it could create.
The new mall is expected to open in October 2008 at Grant Line Rd and Highway 99.
