Man Pleads Guilty To Producing Child Porn

SACRAMENTO (AP) ― A 61-year-old Bay Area man has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography in a case in which he had sex with a 12-year-old girl in Costa Rica.

Leonard Auerbach of Orinda faces 15 to 30 years in prison at his Nov. 14 sentencing.

Auerbach fled the country in April after the initial charges were filed. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement named him a "most wanted" fugitive.

He was arrested by local authorities in Cuba in May and extradited to the United States in June.

Authorities say images found at his home last year included child pornography taken in Costa Rica in 2004 when the girl in the images was 12.

Auerbach worked in the real estate industry and previously taught business at St. Mary's College and UC Berkeley.
