Trade In Lawn Mower And Save Some Green

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― How would like you like to help the environment and save some green, money that is, at the same time?

SMUD is making it easy with their 13th annual Mow Down.  You can trade in your old, polluting, gasoline-powered mower and purchase a new, cordless electric mower.  SMUD says that one gasoline-powered mower can produce as much air pollution in one hour as driving a late-model car from Sacramento to Los Angeles.  Electric mowers, on the other hand, produce virtually no air pollution.

SMUD has two sizes available, a smaller one for $189 and a larger model for $289.  But to get the deal, you need to register online at smud.org or by telephone at 1-888-742-SMUD on March 18 beginning at 11 a.m. There will be 900 mowers available. Registration is first-come/first-served.

The actual trade-in event is Saturday, March 28, 7 a.m. to noon, at Sacramento State, rain or shine. All pre-registered customers should bring their used gas-powered mowers and exchange them for the new, clean and quiet rechargeable mowers. Event staff will load and unload lawn mowers from customers' cars. Customers will be able to drive through the event.
