Kings Player Nocioni Apologizes For DUI Arrest

More Local News
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Sacramento Kings forward Andrés Nocioni is apologizing for being arrest early Thursday morning on suspicion of DUI.

Both Nocioni and the Kings organization issued statements this afternoon following Nocioni's arrest. Sacramento Police Sgt. Norm Leong says Nocioni was pulled over around 2 a.m. in downtown Sacramento when an officer noticed his car weaving. Charges indicate Nocioni  had a blood alcohol level of .08 or more.

When Nocioni left the Sacramento County Jail around 9 this morning, he had no comment about his arrest, but just after noon he issued the following statement: "I want to apologize to the Kings' organization, my teammates, my coaches, the fans, the city of Sacramento and my family. Drinking and driving is something that shouldn't be taken lightly. I made a mistake and I'm very sorry for my lapse in judgment."

Nocioni will remain playing for the Kings, for now.

"The Sacramento Kings are extremely disappointed in the poor judgment which led to the driving under the influence arrest of Andres. He has apologized to the organization and his teammates," said Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie. "We will wait for the outcome of the judicial process and the NBA's decision on potential fines and or suspension. This experience now becomes a life lesson learned the hard way. "

This isn't the first time the Kings organization has dealt with an employee arrested for DUI. In 2006, then head-coach Eric Musselman was arrested on a drunken-driving charge after Sacramento's first preseason game. Musselman later pleaded no contest to the charge and served a two-game suspension in February.
