K-9 Donated To Sac PD By Grateful Family
LINCOLN (CBS13) ―
A nine-year-old boy and his family rewarded a SWAT officer with a gift worth thousands that will help fill a need in local law enforcement.
Last September, Josh Lattuada was the victim of a horrible accident.
"All of a sudden I hear this peeping noise and I don't remember anything after that," Josh said.
Sacramento Police Officer George Singewald was off duty and heading home that night when he drove up on the scene.
"I saw a small child laying in the gutter," Singewald said. "I contacted the fire department and got them quicker."
Josh was rushed to the hospital, where he spent two months in a coma. When he finally woke up, his first memory was of Singewald visiting him with two dogs from his K-9 unit.
Josh's family decided to thank him by donating $7,000 to pay for a K-9 dog -- fittingly named Crash. Two dogs in the unit were recently retired, and budget cuts prevented Sacramento law enforcement from replacing them before the Lattuada family's donation.
Crash has four months of training ahead of him before he will be part of the K-9 unit.
Josh is making a full recovery, but is still experiencing memory loss due to the accident.
