Sex Offender Accused Of Attempting To Lure Boy
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
A registered sex offender has been arrested for allegedly soliciting a 14-year-old boy for sex in Sacramento, authorities said Monday.
The Sacramento Police Department said that John Thomas, 45, followed the victim from the Fruitridge light rail station and asked him what he'd be willing to do for $20.
The boy went to a nearby gas station for help, and the attendant confronted the suspect and called police. Detectives are investigating to see if there are any other victims.
"Unfortunately, many sex registrants will continue to engage in their [illegal] activity, so it's quite likely that there's additional victims out there," said a police spokesman.
Thomas was arrested and charged with annoying or molesting a child after prior convictions. He is a registered sex offender that has been convicted of sex crimes against children.
