Police: Man Has Own Car Stolen To Pay For School
RIPON (CBS13) ―
We all know the cost of a good education is going up. But police say a Ripon man resorted to crime to come up with the money to pay for school.
Ripon police say 20-year-old Jacob Goddard plotted to have his car stolen while he was on vacation and had hoped to use the insurance money for tuition.
Goddard reported his car stolen to police earlier this month. During the investigation, police say Goddard's story did not match witness accounts. Goddard later admitted to the plot and told police about his plan to use the insurance money for school.
Police arrested Goddard on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, motor vehicle theft and filing a false police report.
Police have yet to find the stolen car.
