Fire Chief Accused Of Driving Drunk

ISLETON, Calif. (CBS13) ― A local fire chief has been accused of driving drunk behind the wheel of an Isleton city fire vehicle, and despite the charges, is still on duty.

The California Highway Patrol says Isleton Fire Chief Bob Bartley was caught early New Year's Day near Interstate 5 and Walnut Grove Road in San Joaquin County when his car, an Isleton fire vehicle, became stuck in mud. When authorities came to the driver's aid, they allegedly discovered that Bartley was intoxicated.

The Isleton city manager refused to comment on personnel issues, but confirmed that Bartley is still the fire chief and driving around an official city vehicle despite the charges. Disciplinary action might be taken, but only if there's a conviction.

Chief Bartley wasn't available for comment. He will be in court in Lodi this Thursday.
