iPhone App Peeks Into Romantic Partner's Past

Need to know if your date has a checkered past? A Sacramento company has created an iPhone application that is meant to help you out.
The locally-based PeopleFinders.com has released an eye-opening app called "Stud or Dud." Punch in your date's name and the city they live in, and the application is supposed to give you the person's age, where they live, where they've lived in the past and whether they are married.
The company's database of information may also reveal a few other interesting facts, including whether "they were evicted, they're in a long-term relationship… they're a criminal," said company president Bryce Lane.
"Our stance is we're educating and informing," Lane said.
Some marveled over the abilities of the application, but others said it was scary to think they someone's past is just a click away.
"It's a little bit of two ways. You're kind of like that it's a cool option for people you do meet, because there are a lot of weird people out there," said Aura restaurant manager Erin Brown.
A customer at Aura restaurant wasn't as enthusiastic. "I think it's kind of crazy you can get that much history," she said.
The "Studs or Duds" app costs 99 cents, but charges an additional fee if you want to dig deeper into someone's background.
By the way, I typed my name into the application and it got everything right on, including the last five cities I lived in, complete with old addresses and phone numbers.
