Officers using flashlights search through the fog for a driver missing after a fatal accident on Interstate 5 near Williams.
The search for a driver who is missing after a deadly accident this morning on a very foggy Interstate 5 near Williams has been suspended until the fog lifts and visibility is better.
The accident involving a van and truck happened about 3:00 this morning in the northbound direction of I-5 near Husted Road.
The driver of the van was killed and two passengers injured. However, emergency crews could not find the driver of the truck involved in the crash. Officers searched the area with flashlights and called in a helicopter with heat-seeking infrared technology to help look for the driver who may have been thrown from the truck. Search dogs also helped, but those searches have been stopped until the fog lifts later this morning.
No lanes of Interstate 5 are currently blocked, but there is obviously a lot of activity in the area. Utility crews are also on the side of the road to repair a power pole that was damaged in the accident.
